Maiden Cricket founders Cat (17) and Honor Black (18) are appearing on BBC One's Dragons' Den this Thursday, 27 August - a pitch they actually filmed 16 months ago, when Cat was just 16.
The Chichester sisters built Maiden after experiencing first-hand how little cricket kit existed for girls - Honor was once "amongst 30 boys" at her first club, and their school didn't offer girls' cricket at all until the sisters pushed for it. That gap became the founding idea behind the brand.
Since launching, Maiden has grown a 350-strong ambassador community, sponsored the Seattle Orcas in the US, and is now exploring expansion into New Zealand and South Africa. Because Cat was still a minor when the episode was filmed, she delivered her two-minute pitch before leaving the room, while Honor stayed on with Maiden's business lead, Nicole Muller, for the investment discussion.
On the state of women's cricket today, Cat spoke about watching empty stands fill up mid-match at a Southern Brave game once spectators realised the women's game was included in their ticket: "It broke my heart."
