More than 100 girls across the East Midlands to receive free cricket kit as women's game enjoys biggest summer yet

A new partnership between Gateley and Maiden, backed by £15,000 of Gateley investment, will provide fully-funded girls' cricket kit to more than 100 girls across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire in the 2026/27 season - aimed specifically at state schools and community programmes where funding or access to girls-specific kit is limiting participation.

It follows a similar Gateley-backed programme in Surrey, which kitted out three schools and the GB Women's Wheelchair Cricket Team. Maiden co-founder Cat Black said the issue goes beyond kit alone: "Too often, girls in state schools are being asked to make do with shared, ill-fitting or adapted kit." Applications from schools and community programmes closed 29 June 2026.
